The First Pilot

Starting small and building it right.

The first Life Skills Garage pilot will focus on a small group in the Ames area, age-appropriate instruction and a few foundational activities.

Planned Program Areas

Skills that create confidence and connection.

Programs will expand only as community interest, qualified instructors, safe locations and insurance allow.

01

Sports & Movement

Throwing, catching, kicking, teamwork, sportsmanship and confidence-building through play.

02

Bikes & Hand Tools

Bicycle safety, fixing a flat, measuring, identifying tools and completing a simple beginner project.

03

Home & Outdoor Skills

Basic yard responsibility, planting, outdoor cleanup and everyday tasks matched to each participant’s age.

04

Confidence & Connection

Communication, patience, asking for help, solving problems and learning how to try again.

Looking ahead

Adult one-on-one instruction, vehicle basics, home maintenance, small-engine skills and properly insured dirt-bike or ATV instruction are part of the longer-term vision—not opening-day promises.
